Luke LeGrand shot an even-par 72 over Willow Springs Golf Course on Sunday, but it still went to a scorecard playoff before LeGrand got the win over Matt Langlinais in the Alamo City Golf Trail Tour. It’s the event on the local amateur tour this year, and LeGrand got a share of another when he teamed with Sean Vidal to win a two-person event that opened the 2014 season at Brackenridge Park in January.
At Willow, LeGrand shot 2-over on the front nine and was two strokes behind Steve Proctor. LeGrand eagled No. 10 after reaching the par-5 green in two with a hybrid into the hole from 207 yards. He sank a 15-footer to get back to even on the day.
LeGrand bogeyed 13, but came back with a birdie on the downwind 15th with a big drive and a 60-degree wedge in close to the hole.
“My two pars at 14 and 16 (going into the wind) were probably more impressive than the birdie,” LeGrand said. “And I had a good chip after missing the green at 18, and I made a five-footer to save the par, which I knew I needed to have.”
After Langlinais, Michael Flanagan shot 75 to finish third in the gross division of the Championship Flight.
ACGT Tour plays resumes Feb. 21-23 with a two-person better-ball match play format at Olmos Basin Golf Course. LeGrand said he will pair with Vidal at Olmos.
